stano We speak of development, therefore, as the necessary rational end of rational men. We realize that the pursuit of development is not as dramatic as the pursuit of war--and frequently the words of the pursuer fall on deaf ears. But we have no more urgent task. First: Let us examine our attitude toward development itself. Too many of us think it is impossible. Too many think it unreal. But that is a dangerous, defeatist belief. It leads to the conclusion that war is inevitable--that mankind is doomed--that we are gripped by forces we cannot control. We need not accept that view. Our problems are manmade--therefore, they can be solved by man. And man can be as big as he wants. No problem of human destiny is beyond human beings. Man's reason and spirit have often solved the seemingly unsolvable--and we believe they can do it again. We take up our task in buoyancy and hope. We feel sure that our cause will not be suffered to fail among men. we feel entitled at this juncture, at this time, to claim the aid of all and to say, "Come then, let us go forward together with our united strength." Worry is like a rocking chair, it gives you something to do, but it doesn't get you anywhere. last year

Flautista This film takes an interesting approach--nature's power continues to challenge humanity throughout time and people need to be there for each other, wherever the disaster occurs. International Medical Corps takes such a powerful yet low key approach, representing this continuity of human care so well. last year
