Power of the Sea

During the summers of 2007 and 2008, year-round Arctic sea ice shrank to its lowest level since satellite records began 30 years ago. Some scientists now predict an ice-free Arctic summer by 2012. As snow and ice levels decline, sea-levels and weather patterns are affected which in turn impact plant, animal, and human life.

Beautiful ice. Hoping Santa Monica won't be submerged in three years! If so, where can I get a 3 bedroom submarine! Today, I honored Earth by planting lettuce, tomato, arrugula and red bell peppers in my garden. Also changed all light bulbs to the spirally ones.

The community gathered at the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies for an engaged dialogue on how we can reduce our carbon footprint and create real economic opportunity--a win-win for all. This movie is an inspirational reality check on the state of the ice..well done!

As a teen-run organization, we spent the day brainstorming, and coming up with innovative ideas in how to involve the youth in building and promoting solar energy. The teens also want to some how help clean the GIANT floating trash heaps in our oceans. Lots of ideas ... as of yet we don't know how??? Certainly worth Exploring...
