I have been thinking about this for a month and it is a great philosophical question. The hard part is that people often take advantage of giving/selfless individuals.
If everyone were to keep in mind the needs, dreams, and general perspective of others, we would live in a much happier world.
In the end, who wants to be alone and forgotten... and what's more fulfilling than making a difference and being a force for good? Slashing our egos seems to be one of life's great challenges.
All of our energy is borrowed and we must give it back. We should spend our lives giving back to the earth that allows us to grow and learn.. These are the days of our labor, the more we contribute, the more fruits we receive.
In being selfless or selfish, we will be giving ourself the time we need to learn who we are and what we need. But first, we will need to redefine the way we see this word. In other words, create a fresh new look for the same old word. Let's look at the word: alone. When you hear this word, do you picture someone sitting in a large room feeling sad and lonely? Perhaps, but what if it doesn't mean that at all? Picture a young mother reading on the beach by herself. Imagine that it is the first hour she has had to herself all day. To her, alone isn't lonely or sad at all, but in fact, peaceful. We could describe the selfish person as one that is self-assured, clear about their goals, conscious of self and knows what they need to do to be successful. They begin each day with a clear-cut list of what has to be done and how it could be accomplished.! And in a world like today's, without being selfless, we cant stand anywhere for ourselves. !
First, define self. A "small" self is that one who still is determined by a sense of separateness from others. A "large" Self is that one who is All-inclusive and sees his/her connectedness to everything and everyone.
So the less in selfless is to be less of the little self and more of the large Self.
To be selfless is the goal for the wheel of life.... to transcend lesser desires, learning what is truly valuable rather than empty and shallow....
When we are selfless, we leave separateness and become whole, become our true Self, part of the Big Picture.
Yet the truly selfless knows that all selves are part of the whole and need to walk their walk to come to this "large" Self. Experience is necessary to learn and grow ... selfless. Can we share our inclusiveness, our selflessness, as role models, with everyone unconditionally? a question to contemplate.
It is important to be selfless in this one lifetime we have been given because after we die people remember most what we did with ourselves do you really want to make it all about you and become hated or would you rather be loved and be remembered for the compassion you showed towards others. Remember that when you die you leave behind everything.
selfless means that you r joining the world community, joining the people and world you doknow about and becoming the part of universe .....and eternity.............it is not a small thing but realizing the real essence of life...................selfless is the another name of AWARENESS
The world we live in, has been given to us selflessy and with love. The world itself is selfless as we are given everything we need to live. Aren' t we the part of this world? That' s why being selfless is so important- just to deserve being the part of the world.
By taking our minds & hearts off of ourselves, our eyes become open to see through what appears, and our ears can hear and understand in the stillness.
XPLR
If you're selfless,
you embrace and care for others.
If you embrace and care for others,
you understand and appreciate yourself.
It's a beautiful cycle of neverending love.
Being constructively selfless...when everyone does it...is world peace.
It's important because it's necessary for the betterment of our future
as a species and just as fun loving, music listening, awesome human peoples... =)
